Terry Matlock, Position 7

Terry Matlock lives in Garvin, Oklahoma and is a 1981 graduate of Valliant High School.  In 1985 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and in 1987 earned a Master of Administration degree, both from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  While attending SOSU, he was a Presidential Leadership Scholar, Member of the Student Senate, performed with the Chorvettes Show Choir, and was a Graduate Assistant for the School of Business. He has been the Program Coordinator for SOSU at the McCurtain County campus and served as Special Administrative Assistant to then Attorney General Robert Henry. From 1990 through 2002, he was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives where he was elected by his peers to serve as the Speaker Pro-Tempore, the second highest elected office in the House of Representatives. In 2002 he began a career with Choctaw Electric Cooperative, a distribution electric utility company, where he is the Chief Executive Officer. In 1998, he was named “Outstanding Young Oklahoman” by Governor Frank Keating and in 2003 was selected by Governor Brad Henry as the “Southeastern Area Business Person of the Year”.  In 2007, he was chosen as a Distinguished Alumni from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He is a 32 Degree Mason and a Scottish Rite Shriner.  He teaches Sunday school and is a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Valliant.  Along with his father, he operates a cow-calf ranch.  He is married to Kerrey and they have three children, Trevor, Taylor, and Kerrigan.
